This practical, creative course will encourage participants to improve and extend their classroom teaching techniques and English language ability so that they can adapt, develop and build positive, relevant learning outcomes for their students in a global, connected world.

 

Description:

Sessions are carefully planned to suit the needs, interests and learning styles of the participants and to provide the right balance of skills, content and structure. They are practical and communicative and are based on current research into English language acquisition and sound pedagogical principles. In lively, interactive training sessions, teachers will learn how to make their classes more dynamic, relevant and effective, using motivating, memorable and meaningful materials to improve their learners’ employability and future education prospects. Inspiring language improvement sessions are designed to develop teachers’ own confidence in English and create new personal development goals.

 

Aims and objectives:

To enable participants to experience a dynamic and communicative style of teaching and receive personal attention from an experienced and qualified professional, using a wide range of resources to create a supportive, dynamic learning environment.

Teachers will have a wide range of practical teaching techniques to enable them to make their classes more effective.

 

Learning outcomes:

In particular, teachers will be able to:

  • adapt coursebook materials to personalise students’ language learning
  • motivate their students with relevant, engaging authentic resources
  • manage, support and encourage students in mixed ability classes 
  • use different teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles

and specifically:

  • use a range of introductory techniques with new classes and language concepts
  • use a variety of creative techniques with images, texts, dialogues, videos
  • create activities to make content more meaningful and memorable
  • integrate reading, writing, listening and speaking skills
  • apply the learning points from the course to creating a CLIL project or presentation.
