I have been working in higher education for over 25 years as a lecturer, trainer, examiner, and researcher. I always try to put my professional experience and theoretical interests into practice in my teaching and I try to incorporate the principles and tools of coaching and use the power of visual tools in teacher training and language teaching. My courses cover a wide range of areas, including stylistics, methodology, subject pedagogy, British and American culture, intercultural education, communication, and children's literature.
At the KRE Faculty of Teacher Education, I apply a coaching approach to develop the English language skills of prospective English teachers and language learners, using methods and approaches that help students to think independently, and develop their debating skills and problem-solving abilities.
My own professional development has been radically changed by completing the ICF-accredited ELC Neurolanguage Coaching® course and learning about brain-friendly learning strategies. Years of expertise and experience in language acquisition, Content and Language Integrated Learning and positive psychology have also played a significant role in my professional development.
I take part in several international and national researches and projects on quality, innovative language teaching, the relationship between the coaching approach, and teacher and learner motivation. The three-year Erasmus+ international QuILL (Quality in Language Learning) project, which focuses on quality language learning, digital language learning materials, and related modern methodologies to support autonomous, self-regulated learning, was completed in early 2023. My most recent publications are supported by the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church of Hungary in the framework of the project Language competences in space and time (2022-2024). The research will analyze the database of responses from participants of the Simonyi competition, using a multi-disciplinary approach from coaching, psychology, pedagogy, linguistics, socio-economic fields, with the collaboration of Dutch partner institutions.
My students frequently opened up to me and shared personal details about their lives in various settings. These experiences have gradually opened my eyes to the natural inner need to be listened to as a whole person and as an individual during the learning journey. As a result of this exciting discovery, I have found that focusing on the learner's interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses is vital to maintain long-term motivation and effective learning. This led to the birth of the STREITMAN&POPRÁDY Creative Language Coaching® method, which incorporates my passion for working with people and my experience and expertise over the past 25 years.
My goal is to build a safe and creative learning environment with my students, a place where they can grow and develop effectively over the long term.
